What is it used for (in practice)?
- Detect presence and movement in zero visibility conditions: total darkness, fog, smoke, and foliage.
- Radiometry to identify abnormal heating, leaks, and hot spots before they become an incident.
- Fixed monitoring of critical areas: access points, perimeters, valves, pumps, conveyors, flare stacks, and process areas.
- Intelligent analytics to improve detection and classification (of people and vehicles) without relying solely on "motion".
If your goal is to "cover everything," then PTZ isn't the right solution. It's for specific areas, requiring focus and discipline, where thermal imaging makes a difference.
Integration and operation
- Supports H.264, H.265, Motion JPEG, and Pelco Smart Compression.
- Multi-stream and bandwidth management (includes "idle" scene mode).
- ONVIF S, G, T, and M profiles for integration with VMS.
- Audio: Opus and G. 711 PCM, line inputs/outputs.
- External I/O: Alarm In, Alarm Out, and SD card support (Class V10 or higher recommended).
In critical environments, validate with your VMS the best combination of streams (primary in H.265, secondary in H.264, and snapshots in MJPEG).
