ONElinear is designed with a classically “British” linear frequency response curve. The aim is total neutrality, allowing the full character of the music to be revealed. A loudspeaker, however, can only be truly perfected with the amplification system that will drive it. In this case, the ONElinear has been optimized for use with Cyrus' own hybrid class D typologies.
ONElinear, while designed to work exceptionally well with the Cyrus amplifier design, is a great speaker in its own right. Linear or flat response loudspeakers can often perform lackluster, but Cyrus has focused on details with cutting-edge technology.
Due to the speed and accuracy of these driver units, they are capable of performing one particular task - the ability to thrill and entertain for hours on end - without any undue detail in the bass and treble frequencies.
Design Principles
The ONElinear's mass/mid driver uses a copper-clad double-wound voice-coil. In addition to being lightweight, it also produces a stronger induced magnetic field and enhances control over low frequencies. The voice coil is carefully connected to a kevlar profiled cone. This material is lightweight and responsive, carrying limited inertia and retaining its shape and boosting audio detail even when pushed to the limit. The resulting speed and precision of bass response is remarkable for a speaker of this size.
The “tweeter” or treble unit is a textile soft-dome capable of significant response well beyond the limits of human hearing. Refined and balanced, the high frequencies are not "aggressive" or harsh, yet retain all the details of the recording source.
The crossover uses high-quality electrolytic capacitors to maintain signal integrity and smooth phase response throughout the transition from bass driver to tweeter. This again contributes to an even response.
The frame was developed using advanced PC modeling, with “'Delayed Cumulative Spectral Analysis' to reduce the frame noise contribution to levels greater than 35dB below the driver output. The same computer modeling is also used to precisely tune the crossover to ensure consistent performance, even in off-axis sessions.
ONElinear has its doors at the back and is designed to be between 10-30cm from the wall. This will optimize bass response and clarity in the mid-range, although we advise some experimentation with placement as it depends from room to room.
